WINDOWS 8 TRICK :SHOW TO SETUP A VPN CONNECTION in Windows 8 Properly

 Windows 8 Metro UI has come up with another breath of fresh air that is the built in-network setup. It gives  an excellent opportunity to make headway to create a VPN connection  that uses primarily public communication infrastructure, such as the internet, provide remote offices or traveling users an access to a central organizational network. VPNs typically require remote users of the network to be authenticated and often secure data with encryption technologies to prevent disclosure of private information to unauthorized parties.


As mentioned earlier that Windows 8 has an in built server technology which is named as Routing and Remote Access (RRAS) that provides the following services:
Dial-up remote access server
Virtual private network (VPN) remote access server
Internet Protocol (IP) router for connecting subnets of a private network
Network address translator (NAT) for connecting a private network to the Internet
Dial-up and VPN site-to-site demand-dial router

Here we will go through the steps to configure and organize RRAS as a VPN server on windows 8. We will try to go through different configuration scenarios in order to point you to various formation options in RRAS server role. However you may  skip some of those depending upon your requirements.

STEP 1: First of all bring the mouse arrow to the extreme bottom right of screen and when the side bar appears, hit the “Settings”.

STEP 2: Now go to Control Panel and open “View Network Status and Tasks”. Click on Set up a new connection or network.

STEP 3: Select Connect to a workplace then click on Next

STEP 4: Select Use my internet connection (VPN).

STEP 5: Type the IP address or computer name where you wish to connect and your connection name under the destination name field.

STEP 6: Click on create and you are done.

STEP 7: You can now safely close the Network and Sharing Center for getting connected through created VPN connection.

STEP 8: Now go to setting in right bar once again and now click on the wireless connection. List of available connections will appear. Hit the one you just created and click on connect to get connected using this connection.

STEP 9: Another important thing to be mentioned over here is that we can enjoy the liberty to change the properties of the VPN connection. To do so Right click the VPN connection from the Network Panel and select Properties, now you are free to launch, rename, delete, and change settings of the connection.

Here you go, enjoy Windows 8 RRAS VPNs network’s functionality that is found on any network, such as sharing of data and access to network resources, printers, databases, websites, etc. Setting up of RRAS network connection technology has replaced the need to requisition and maintain expensive dedicated leased-line communication circuits once typical in wide-area network installations.
