How to Turn Off or Disable SmartScreen Filter in Windows 8

SmartScreen Filter is a security module that improves, on the whole, the security of the operating system. It verifies the rating and other things before installing any application. If the security module finds superior rating of the application, only then it allows the application to get installed on computer.

However, there are times when we desperately need to install particular software, irrespective of how much security threat it prone. So, in order to do that, we need to disable or turn off SmartScreen feature. Only then it becomes possible to install those software or application.

Step 1: Open the control panel from the UI screen and go to “more settings”.

Step 2: Now click on “System and Security”to see another window appearing on the screen – “ActionCenter”.



Step 3: Simply click on “SmartScreen Setting” in left side bar.

Step 5: Now select the radio button labeled as “Give a warning before running unrecognized programs from the internet, but don’t require administrator approval.”  To completely remove it, click on the radio button labeled as Turn off Windows SmartScreen and on OK.





That’s all. Now you can proceed on to install the software or application bypassing the Windows SmartScreen Filter.
